WHO IS ERNIE
SAXTON?
A
veteran of more than 35 years' experience in motorsports marketing
and promotions. Ernie Saxton is doing exactly what he's always
wanted to do: upgrading motorsports communications, bringing
motorsports to the corporate world and helping motorsports grow
and prosper. Considered an expert in sponsorship marketing, he is
often called on for media interviews and consultation.
Saxton
was Manager of Marketing and advertising for Chilton Book Company,
a division of ABC/Capital Cities, for 13 years. In 1989 he left to
pursue full-time (what had been a part-time endeavor) the
motorsports and automotive aftermarket activities which had been
demanding more and more of his time.
An
award-winning broadcaster and journalist, Saxton is a frequent
contributor to national and local publications such as TRACKSIDE,
AREA AUTO RACING NEWS, BUCKS COUNTY COURIER TIMES, INSIDE TRACK (CANADA),
NATIONAL DRAGSTER, AUTO LOCATOR
and others including STOCK CAR RACING MAGAZINE and NASCAR MAGAZINE
in addition to his international motorsports marketing newsletter, MOTORSPORTS SPONSORSHIP
MARKETING NEWS. Saxton's articles also appear on
www.openwheelracing.com.
He is also part of Monday Night Motorsports show on WEST-AM Radio
in Easton, Pa. He also contributes to WBCB AM Radio.
Saxton
served six years as Press Liaison for Pocono International (more
than 130,000 people at each NASCAR Winston Cup event.) Director of
Communications and MC for the annual Pennzoil Motorsports auto
racing trade show which attracts over 50,000 people. He is
"jack of all trades" for NASCAR's Grandview Speedway: He
is Director of Communications, publisher and editor of the track's
weekly magazine and was producer and host of Grandview's weekly TV
show, "Greatest Show on Dirt". He is vice president of
Marketing for Rising Star Publications (publishing motorsports
books; including books on Davey Allison, Robert Pressley and Max
Helton.). He also was co-host of a two hour call in auto
racing/sports show on WIP Radio-Philadelphia. The well-known
announcer and speaker also gives back to the industry. He helped
found both the Motorsports Organizers of Pennsylvania and the
Eastern Motorsports Press Association, and is currently President
of EMPA.
